‘WE ONLY SELL THE BEST PEOPLE’ 2006
oil on canvas 123x91cm
‘We only sell the best people’ is a comment on marketing in our time.
As I see it marketing is the prevailing dialogue of our culture.
The character portrayed, evidently a salesman, has total control, although his psychic centre – represented here by the red sphere – is nearly in the sales box with the embryonic people.
The curtain suggests that I see him as a Shakespearean rascal on stage.
The spheres – one of them being the moon – and the figure’s eye are creating the intended tensions.
