SYDNEY HARBOUR 1981
oil on canvas 110x90cm
My ‘Sydney Harbour’ painting came about through my need to occasionally depict the world around me objectively rather than inventing paintings from my imagination, as is my usual practice.
The years spent as a student studying the European Renaissance masters was also a factor in this choice of subject.
The immediate foreground in the work is changed from the original scene in order to impart a timeless quality to the bustling atmosphere of the pier and boats.
