This painting functions for me as a metaphore for industrial and space movement and it is one of a series of large scale works which have formed the basis for a new extension of my ideas.
With geometric accents I wanted to harness the sense of gathered structural tension and in this way give it a degree of beauty – which is reinforced by the small dancing/embracing figures in the middle of the picture.
I wanted it to look as if the vertical could be released and project forward with great momentum. The figure in the cockpit symbolises the hope that mankind is still in control.
