Painting of the Month

Thursday, July 1st, 2010
A painting and a drawing.
These two works were completed in the last weeks.
The painting is part of a series of birds in oil. I chose oil because I wanted to achieve more depth and resonance to heighten the moods of the birds in their suggested landscapes.
I very often alternate my working on canvas with drawings that are more playful, even sometimes satirical. The medium can be charcoal, pencil or ink depending on my impulse and on the quality of the paper. This very often influences the subject matter.
