I admire the work of Edouard Vuillard of the French Les Nabis group of painters.
His use of colour, in particular often the bright primaries he uses in his human figure scenes, create a rich vibrant almost playful world – music for the eye.

Recently I re-discovered the work of Goya who since my student days has been a great favourite of mine. He was an acute moral observer of his times. His dramatic and magical works show his revulsion towards the inhumanity of his epoch. (July 09)
